My personal teaching philosophy builds on a hybrid of social learning theory, early cognitivism, and contemporary cognitivism, which I describe as Modern Social Cognitivism. Why do I assign such a label to my philosophy on teaching? Simple, this is my personal paradigm for organizing previous knowledge, what I observe in the current instruction environment, and the process for placing context to interpret and respond on an individual basis.

My personal design philosophy and style echo both the gestalt and the principle of economy. Gestalt theory mandates no single element more important than the sum of the total, while the rule of parsimony, or principle of economy states plurality should not be assumed without necessity; or, in modern English, keep it simple. This rule or principle was often used by the philosopher, William Ockham, and has become known as, Ockham's Razor.
